After serving for 11 years as the associate pastor of Lawrence United Methodist Church Joseph Johnson is excited about serving in a new role. He is a graduate of the Christian Theological Seminary and has served as an Indianapolis police chaplain. Joseph has enjoyed a ministry that crosses age and racial boundaries. He has developed the Lawrence Youth Corps as well as served as the chaplain for Marquette Manor Retirement Center, and he currently apart of a clergy peer group funded by Lilly endowment to study multi cultural worship.
Joseph is married to the lovely Sharon Johnson, who knew she was going to marry him the first time she saw him, and they have 3 wonderful children. Joseph enjoys preaching and writing music. You can hear some of Joseph’s music at www.soundclick.com/hardheaded
Visitation Pastor
Jim was born in Murphysboro, Illinois, and has one brother and one sister. Jim studied at Ohio Wesleyan while serving in the military. He received his undergraduate degree from Asbury College and his B.D. from Asbury Theological Seminary. Jim served a number of pastorates in South Indiana ( including Madison, Franklin, and Carmel) before coming to Lawrence UMC in 1990. In addition to his work as Associate Pastor for Visitation at Lawrence UMC, Jim also serves as pastor at Christians United congregation at Soldiers' Memorial Chapel, Fort Harrison. His hobbies are growing roses and teaching; and his dream is "to live up to the highest ideals of a gentleman and a Christian." Jim is married to Kay.
