The Lawrence Youth Corps is a 5-week
summer program that teaches youth
(age 10-15) respect and responsibility,
through community service, teamwork,
and leadership skills.
Each day teams of youth go out into our
area and work—at no charge— on
projects to improve their community. Team
members alternate team leadership daily.
In the process participants build strong
friendships, learn the value of hard work,
and the satisfaction of a job well done.

This summer the Youth Corps will:
Work on over 90 projects
Donate 3,000 service hours.
Develop a week-long Park Program
   for over 75 young children
Plant a Community Garden
Feed the homeless at Day Spring
Volunteer at the Humane Society

Paint Garages
Clean Gutters
Trim Bushes
Pull Weeds
Paint Guardrails
Renovate a Barn
Mow Lawns
Make Recycling Containers for the City of Lawrence
Cook for the Ronald McDonald House

Celebration Trip

Not only do we work hard, we also play hard.  We celebrate our accomplishments with an Awards Banquet and with an overnight trip.  Past trips have included:  Warren Dunes State park in Michigan, McCormick's Creek State Park in Indiana, and White Water Rafting in West Virginia

Youth Corps History

After serving as a missionary in India, Helen Fehr returned to Indianapolis only to see that youth violence and deteriorating homes had made her own neighborhood the new mission field.  From that insight, the Youth Corps program was born 25 years ago. We proudly follow in that tradition, serving our community and transforming our youth, through leadership training, teamwork and lifeskills.
