The mission of the United Methodist Church is “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world”.  We have experienced a series of activities intended to better prepare LUMC to live out that mission.  Several members of our congregation participated in an eight month Fruitful Congregations study group.  Over the past year we have been visited by Mystery Guest Worshippers who reported on their experience.  More recently,  our pastor, staff, and ministry team leaders were interviewed, the entire congregation was surveyed, and we participated in Leadership, Focus Group,  and Visioning sessions led by consultants from the Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.  On Sunday, January 27th, we received their report of our greatest strengths, our greatest area of concern, and five Prescriptions to address those concerns.

In the next phase of the Fruitful Congregations Journey process we will have a series of Town Hall Meetings to discuss the consultant’s report, learn of the resources that are available to help us move forward in our journey, and finally vote on the acceptance of the report and our committment to action.  You are encouraged to participate in one or more of these “church family discussions”.  The next opportunity is Sunday, February 24,  6:00 PM, in The Gathering Place.
